Any increase in top up fees in the rest of the UK will lead to a significant funding gap for Welsh students, colleges and universities. Inevitably, this will lead to calls for tuition fees to rise in Wales, something NUS Wales strongly opposes.

If you are studying in Wales, education is a devolved area and therefore the responsibility of the National Assembly for Wales and not Westminster however the outcome of the current fee review in England could have a negative impact on Wales and it is therefore crucial that you get your prospective parliamentary candidates and re-standing MPs to vote against any increase in fees in the next parliament.

Also, if top-up fee increase, public spending in England is likely to drop. This would mean Wales would be given less money from the UK Government.

Increasing top up fees in England will affect students in Wales.

We are asking students in Wales to use their vote in the forthcoming general election to support candidates that would vote against an increase in top up fees in the Westminster parliament.

By signing the following pledge you will help NUS put pressure on candidates to come clean, outline their position on fees, and protect Welsh students, colleges and universities. We will also be able to tell you how your candidates are likely to vote on fees.
